Never a dull moment...

Well, well, well. This sucks! There has been a bomb scare in London. They found a car full of fuel and nails as well as some sort of remote incendiary device in the neighborhood of Haymarket. To which most people from back home are saying: Where do you live in relation to that??!! Well, never fear, it's about 2 miles away. I'm not hanging out over there any time soon. It's actually much closer to school. I'm not too worried about it right now, but I think that seeing as I've seen a lot of the sights in London already, I might not go near the sights for the remainder of my stay. It just seems prudent. Haymarket is a really trendy area full of clubs and restaurants. I've been over there already...no need to make a return trip. I made a point to call Mom & Dad this morning first thing because I could just see them freaking out. But that is the risk that you take. No one who went to work the morning of 9/11 thought that it was going to be their last day on the planet. But then, people go on with their normal lives every day and nothing happens to them.

Shoot! They are also closing Hyde Park. That makes me sad...it's finally a little sunny out here. But I recognize being prudent in these types of situations. The bombings in London on July 7, 2005 happened while students were in class here. I don't know whether or not to be concerned that I'm flying from London to Paris on July 7, 2007 or not. I really am not inclined to worry about it too much. That is just my way. But apparently there is another car near Hyde Park on Park Lane that they are concerned about in a car park. For crying out loud.

The big topic of conversation - aside from a car bomb in Haymarket - is Gordon Brown and his new cabinet. There is a lot of talk about anti-war appointments and the new Head of State that is a woman (gasp!). I'm enjoying being here during the change over. It's really interesting to read the papers and follow the changeover.
