Today we had a 5 hour tour of the Inns of London. As a barrister, you belong to an Inn & there are 4 of them. They are, like, country clubs for barristers. You join an Inn that then calls you to the Bar. They are lovely, lovely places that remind me of Ivy League college campuses. We also went to the Templar Church - as featured in the movie The DaVinci Code and also to a bar called The Knights Templar just to see the ladies room - which is by FAR the most lovely I've ever seen. So, when looking at the PICTURES, bear in mind that is why there are pictures of toilets. There is also a picture of our APARTMENT, of BOOTS PHARMACY, and of the UNDERGROUND SIGN - 3 little formative things about my London experience.
Yesterday was just lovely. After class 2 other classmates & I went and bought tickets to see a show. Then my roommate and I went to Harrod's and had lunch, where I bought yummy chocolates (I feel self indulgent buying a box of chocolate for ME) and then a bottle of Burberry London perfume. Full on total splurge - but I was feeling entitled. I'm still way below budget for London, so I felt that I could spend a bit to buy something nice. Then last night we saw Les Mis on the stage at Queen's Theatre. I adored, adored, adored it! Funny thing happened on the way to the show. Kenya & I were on the Hammersmith line of the Tube & we got off at King's Cross to change to the Piccadilly line - as we hop off the train we are smashed into a huge mass of people who are going OUT and we are told that we MUST leave. Turns out that someone decided to jump in front of a train & they had to evacuate the station. We're standing there wondering what the hell we're going to do. We caught a cab over to the theatre. It was crazy! Just pushed out onto the street and the gates were closed behind us. Whoops.
