We made it to Zermatt - it is lovely. The trip up the mountain was very pretty and everything here seems idyllic. The entire town is run on electric, there is no such thing as a gas station. I actually have yet to see a car - there are these little hotel shuttle-thing-a-ma-bobs, but that is IT. We did a bit of hiking - the altitude was kicking my butt. But I got some amazing PICTURES of the Matterhorn and surrounding country. It was really cool. I love this area - so pretty. Our hotel is a pretty little swiss chalet with a balcony that overlooks some of the mountains. Tomorrow it would seem Uncle Mick & I are going to each go off and do our own thing - he wants to hit the pub on top of one of the mountains around here and I'm going to take the train up to the Gornergrat (3089 m.). According to the book: Winding its way up the hillside, the 40-minute ride provides wonderful views of the Matterhorn, and once at the top, take time to admire the views, before setting off on one of the many wonderful hiking paths. Cool, hunh? I'm stoked.
