Our trip to Baden bei Wien

Yesterday was another fun day of travel - Viola, her friend Kristin from Connecticut and I took the tram down to Baden Am Wien - a small town 26KM south west of Vienna. It was really lovely! We had some lunch, hiked in the park overlooking the city, and - after having some coffee at a small cafe by the lake - took a walk through the rose gardens that were all still blooming. I took about a dozen PICTURES of the roses - they were so gorgeous. After we came back, we met Ines and her sister at Porgy and Bess - a jazz club down in the first district and listened to some great jazz music. It was a great day!

Today, I have to resign myself to more work on my paper. I've made some headway, but my goal is to write 10 pages today. At least get my research down in the correct sections, then I can move it around later. I have to get by the idea that is has to be perfect right now - I just need to get stuff down on paper and the rest will come.

I'm watching a documentary on CNN called "God's Warriors." It's about the Israel-Palestine conflict. I really wish I could understand it better - it has such a long and convoluted history. There are so many details and so may disputes. A lot of anger. A lot of hate. I just don't understand it. But then, I would have to say that I've always been fairly naive in that respect - I've never understood how to hate people on the basis of their religion, nationality, skin color - all of that. I know that there are territorial issues, but it goes further than that. To think that it's solely territorial is narrow.
