A moment of ranting & raving

OK - so since I have no one else to rant and rave to at this instant in time, I am going to rant and rave to the world at large. I'm a little annoyed. I arranged with a company called XS Baggage to ship my luggage to Vienna for me and everything is muddled up. They told me initially they would need to pick it up on the 22nd to get it to Vienna by the 31st. So I told Matt & Leah the 22nd. Well...they didn't show then, but they did call Leah on the 23rd and said they'd be there between 1:00 and 4:00 on the 24th. So fine...and could she attach these labels to the luggage. OK, fine. She asked what to do if she wasn't going to be there and they said she should put the labels on the door and the luggage in the garage. OK, fine. So she waits until 4:45 on Friday and they don't show. She has an appointment to see a new daycare for Anders at 5:00 so she leaves. The delivery guy showed at some point after that and leaves her a message that they aren't ready to go, he's not taking the luggage, and maybe she should just mail it UPS. What kind of service is THAT? They tout themselves as having "worldclass service" on their website, yet that is their response? I'm royally annoyed. I think that I am most annoyed that poor Leah is having to deal with this!!! Like she needs one more thing to worry about with a new baby to deal with. I really just need them to follow through on their commitment and get my luggage to Vienna by the 31st without giving Leah a coronary. What a farce! I lined this up seven months ago so that I wouldn't HAVE this problem, and yet it happened. I suppose it is the first thing to go seriously awry...but of all things!!! I must must must have my suits by the time I start at the UN. No exceptions. What am I to do about it though? I'm 7000 miles away in Germany. This is absurd. It makes me think about the importance of doing what you commit to doing. I put a lot of reliance on this company to get me what I need and then they aren't coming through. Not only are they not coming through, but they are putting my best friend through the wringer in the process as well. She shouldn't have to be dealing with this.

OK...I'm done ranting I guess. There is nothing I can do until later today and call the contact's cell phone in DC. I left them a voice mail for all the good it will do me. I doubt they are at their office on a weekend. For crying out loud.
